I am now 82 years old and can still remember 'Professional Women' standing on corners and outside the office I worked in and, being very naive, didnt realise why! So loved the area and spending time in Hyde Park at lunchtime was magic! Memories!!

Adjusting for inflation for then & today's prices would mean that back in 2016 it would have cost £68.50 instead!!! I was so pleased to see you visit Leather Lane. I recently found out that my g-g grandfather owned an eel & pie restaurant in Leather Lane I think it was no 51 or 56. I think it must have been closed years ago when the area was developed. Walter Pyrke was a baker & his brother Alfred a fishmonger. My grandmother Ellen was Walter's daughter but when she was 4 she went to live with Alf as her Mum died & Walter had to run the shop. It took me ages to trace it as it must have been one of the original shops in the day. I couldn't find any old photos that would have been great. 27/12/23
